This shirt design was made as a final project for my silkscreen class, for my friends in a band. My inspiration was vintage band tees and wanted to achieve that ‘washed and worn’ look. I diluted my inks with retarder to achieve this color blend. I also experimented with puff ink on the lettering, but due to the puff drying opaque white, it would absorb the metallic shine from the gold, leaving a yellowish color which wasn’t the goal. With my deadline in mind, I decided to go with just a metallic gold to finish off the shirts but hope to continue experimenting with puff ink and other specialty inks in the future. I printed three shirts, of varying sizes and fabrics, but the design is roughly 8” x 6.5” in three colors.
